Barter Dobson

82 year old, Barter Dobson of Rensselaer passed away October 27, 2016.

On January 30, 1934, Barter was born in Knott County, Kentucky to Adam and Mary (Terry) Dobson. On April 11, 1955, in Rensselaer, Indiana, Barter married the love of his life Dorothy Shepherd. Barter worked for Ford Motor Company in the Stamping Plant at Chicago Heights and retired after 30 years.

Barter is survived by his family: wife: Dorothy, children: Carter (Cheryl) Dobson, Betty Lamp, Victor Lee (Carol) Dobson, and 3 grandchildren, siblings: Ora Manns, Retha Walker, Sophia Foster, Phyllis (Kirby) Wireman, Anita (Ron) Brunton, Elmer (Edith) Dobson, Sid (Jackie) Dobson, Dale Dobson, and Earl (Sally) Dobson.

Barter was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Mary, one grandson: Joey Roorda, and 3 siblings: Alma Sizemore, Helen Barnett, Buddy Dobson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Barter will take place at the funeral home on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Thurman Ritchie officiating, interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Associations or a local Food Pantry.
