Arlene B. Poisel

84 year old, Arlene B. Poisel, of DeMotte, passed away October 10, 2023, with her loving family around her.

On March 16, 1939, in Thorton, Illinois, Arlene was born to Louis and Gertrude (Swets) Hoekstra. Arlene married the love of her life, Clifford D. Poisel, on July 5, 1958, at the Christian Reformed Church, in DeMotte, Indiana. Arlene was a cook at the DeMotte Christian School for many years. She then worked at the DeMotte Ace Hardware for a time. She owned Arlene’s Bridal Shop, in DeMotte, and when they moved to Florida, she worked at Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, Winn Dixie, and a Dollar Store in central Florida. She was a member of the UMW (United Methodist Women) group. She loved to play Pinochle and Rummicube, crochet, and cook for family, friends and neighbors. She especially Loved God, and singing her favorite hymns.

Arlene is survived by her loving family: children: Mary Lou (Jr) Gross, Roger (Yvonne) Poisel, six grandchildren: Travis Poisel, Beau (Jessica) Gross, Cassandra (Brandon) Schultz, Blaine (Ashley) Gross, Stephanie (Jacob) Glass,  Trisha (Jimmy) Vargas, seven great-grandchildren: Elijah, Haiden, Terence, Damien, Adrian, Austin, Savannah, one great-great-grandchild: Oakley, brother-in-laws: Robert (Carolyn) Poisel, George (Pat) Poisel, sister-in-laws: Marilyn Benda, Carol (Jerry) Dust, Donna (John) Meir, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Arlene was preceded in death by: her husband: Clifford Poisel, son: Edward Louis Poisel, her parents: Louis & Gertrude Hoekstra, and sister-in-law: Betty (Poisel) Irelan.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the DeMotte United Methodist Church, with a 3:00 p.m. service with Pastor Gaylynn Dykman officiating.

Interment will be next to Clifford in the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the DeMotte United Methodist Church endowment fund.
